The Tactical II FS configuration pairs a Government-length slide and a non-railed dust cover with a bushingless, ramped, fully supported 5 inch barrel and a full-length guide rod. The 1:16" right-hand twist rifling and fully supported chamber are purpose-built for the 10mm cartridge.
Construction is all steel with a forged slide and cast frame, both finished in Parkerized. The mainspring housing is checkered and the front strap is smooth, and an external magazine well/mag funnel is installed. Rear cocking serrations aid manipulation, and the single-stack design offers an 8+1 capacity.
Controls and fire-control parts include an ambidextrous thumb safety and grip safety, a lightened three-hole trigger, and a skeletonized Commander-style hammer. Aggressively textured gray/black synthetic grips provide a secure hold.
Sighting is handled by a dovetailed orange fiber-optic front blade and a fully adjustable square-notch two-dot rear with an elevation screw, giving precise, user-adjustable point of impact.
Markings include the Rock Island Armory crest and "M1911 A1 FS - TACT. II" on the slide. Origin is the Philippines with import/roll marks "APINTL – PAHRUMP NV ACP PHILIPPINES." The accompanying case label reportedly indicates "Rock Ultra FS," while the on-gun markings identify the Tactical II FS variant.
