This Smith & Wesson M&P-15 Sport II stands out with its Armornite-treated 16-inch carbon steel barrel, 1:9 twist, and threaded muzzle. It features forged aluminum-alloy receivers with a standard removable (GI-style) trigger guard, a flat-top T-marked upper (-S&W-, T2–T12), and an A2 front sight base with bayonet lug. The Sport II configuration pairs a 16-inch Armornite (nitride) treated carbon steel barrel with a carbine-length gas system for proven AR-15 operation. The barrel is roll-marked '5.56 NATO 1/9' to reflect its chambering and right-hand 1:9 twist rate, and the muzzle is threaded.
The upper is a flat-top design with T-markings from T2 to T12 and -S&W- marking, complemented by a forward assist and ejection-port cover. Up front is an A2 front sight base with a bayonet lug and a front sling swivel. No rear sight is included.
Forged aluminum-alloy receivers with a standard removable (GI-style) trigger guard provide a solid foundation. The rifle includes two-piece carbine-length polymer handguards, a manual safety, an A2-pattern pistol grip, and a 6-position collapsible stock.
