The SA-22’s bottom-eject design and buttstock-housed tubular magazine maintain a sleek receiver profile while directing empties straight down. Loading is via the oval access port in the buttstock for the magazine inner-tube, and capacity is 10+1 in .22 LR.
This rifle is a true takedown. The interrupted-thread barrel shank allows quick separation of barrel and receiver for compact transport, while the knurled barrel adjustment ring lets the user fine-tune fit between the halves.
The Grade I configuration pairs a polished blued steel receiver with tasteful factory scroll engraving. Gloss-finished walnut is used for the straight-comb, pistol-grip buttstock and matching forearm, both with cut checkering. A metal buttplate completes the classic profile.
Sighting is straightforward: a ramped post with a gold-colored bead up front and a barrel-mounted open rear sight. The barrel measures 19.25 inches, length of pull is 13.75 inches, and the action is a semi-automatic blowback system.
Manufactured by Miroku in Japan, the rifle carries Browning rollmarks including Browning Arms Company Morgan, Utah; Made in Japan/Miroku; SA-22 caliber designation; and Browning patents. Browning’s post-1998 serial coding indicates SA-22 rifle type for this production era.
