The S&W M&P Bodyguard 38 pairs lightweight, modern construction with an integrated Crimson Trace red laser and a unique top-mounted, ambidextrous cylinder release. This double-action-only, internal-hammer revolver is compact at 6.6 inches overall and just 14.4 oz unloaded, with a shrouded stainless steel barrel sleeve and a PVD-coated stainless steel cylinder. It is made in the U.S.A. and marked with the BG38 model code on the yoke/crane.

A top-mounted, ambidextrous cylinder release distinguishes the Bodyguard 38 design and works with the counter clockwise-rotating, fluted 5-shot cylinder for intuitive operation. The internal (hammerless) DAO system supports a snag-resistant draw.
The revolver uses an aluminum alloy upper frame with a polymer grip module, finished in matte black. A stainless steel barrel sleeve sits within a shrouded barrel assembly, while the stainless steel cylinder wears a durable black PVD finish.
Fixed sights include a pinned black ramp front and an integral rear notch. The one-piece textured synthetic grip with S&W medallions provides a secure hold. Chambered for .38 Special +P, the platform balances compact dimensions (1.875 in barrel, 6.6 in overall length) with a light 14.4 oz unloaded weight.
