The Mod.2 Sub-Compact format packs .45 ACP performance into a short 3.5-inch barrel package with a double-stack design. It accepts both compact 9-round and extended 13-round magazines, with a listed capacity of 13+1 using the extended magazine. The striker-fired system incorporates a grip safety and a trigger safety, and the ambidextrous magazine release supports either-hand operation.
Construction is robust, with a forged carbon-steel slide and a carbon-steel barrel, both Melonite treated for durability. The polymer frame uses Springfield’s GripZone texturing for secure purchase, and a dual-spring recoil system is employed.
Sight configuration is straightforward and fast: a fiber-optic front sight pairs with a low-profile rear notch. A single-slot accessory rail on the dust cover provides space for a compact light or similar accessory.
