This 1981 Colt Government Model MK IV/Series 70 is a full-size, blued .45 ACP 1911 built on the classic pre-Series 80 design without a firing-pin safety. It has polished slide flats with matte rounds, GI-style sights, and checkered walnut grips with gold Colt medallions. The pistol is in very good condition with an excellent bore and includes a Colt woodgrain cardboard box with period-correct end label and one 7-round Mec-Gar magazine.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There are minor superficial scratches and blemishes from handling. The factory box is damaged.

    What’s Included

    • Colt factory woodgrain cardboard box with end label for Government Model MK IV/Series 70 (.45 ACP, 5-inch, blue)
    • 1x 7-round Mec-Gar .45 ACP 1911-pattern magazine

The MK IV/Series 70 configuration delivers the pre-Series 80 internal layout without a firing-pin safety, a feature valued by many enthusiasts for its period-correct operation. This example is chambered in .45 ACP with a 5-inch barrel and a single-stack 7+1 capacity.

The blued finish shows polished slide flats with matte rounds. The slide wears rear-only vertical serrations and a non-lowered ejection port. The barrel hood is marked "COLT .45 AUTO," consistent with Colt factory barrels of the era.

Controls and furniture include a left-side thumb safety, grip safety, and a spur hammer. The frame is steel with an arched, checkered mainspring housing and a smooth front strap. Sighting is GI-style with a staked front blade and a square-notch rear.

This pistol uses standard single-stack .45 ACP 1911-pattern magazines and comes with one 7-round Mec-Gar magazine. It was manufactured in the United States in 1981.

Accompanying the pistol is a Colt woodgrain cardboard box with a period end label indicating "GVT. MODEL MKIV 70 SERIES – .45 A.C.P – 5 INCH – BLUE," aligning with the pistol’s configuration.
