This Rhino 60DS uses Chiappa's low-bore-axis system that indexes and fires from the bottom cylinder chamber. The configuration contributes to the model's distinctive profile and aligns with the Rhino series' engineering approach. The ejector rod is housed above the barrel within the shroud for a clean, streamlined layout.
The revolver combines a black-finished aluminum alloy frame with a steel barrel and a matte dark steel cylinder. Its cylinder is the recognizable faceted hexagonal 6-shot design. Overall length is 10.5 inches, with an approximate weight of 2.06 lb, delivering a full-size 6-inch package with thoughtful material choices.
The 6-inch steel barrel features venting, porting, a full shroud, and lightening cuts, paired with a 1:19" twist. Sights are fiber-optic: a red front blade and a fully adjustable rear with two green dots for high visibility and precise adjustment.
Controls include DA/SA operation with an enclosed internal hammer and an external cocking lever. An integral partial-length top Picatinny rail section on the barrel shroud and a short bottom rail provide mounting surfaces. The one-piece walnut grip includes stippled panels and a Chiappa rhino medallion. CIP proof marks and the Chiappa Firearms, Dayton, Ohio import mark are present, and the revolver is made in Italy.
