The XD(M) 3.8 Compact features a 3.8-inch match-marked, hammer-forged barrel and a captive recoil-spring assembly specific to this barrel length. The slide includes front and rear serrations and a loaded-chamber indicator, with low-profile dovetailed iron sights set into the slide.
The compact polymer frame uses aggressive "M"-style texturing and an interchangeable backstrap system. An ambidextrous magazine release supports left- or right-handed operation. A two-slot accessory rail on the dustcover provides direct mounting for the included NcSTAR weapon light.
Safety and status features include a grip safety, trigger safety with an integral safety tab, a firing-pin block, a loaded-chamber indicator, and a striker-status indicator. These components provide clear mechanical feedback during handling and use.
