The 856 platform delivers a six-round small-frame layout in .38 Special with SAAMI +P capability. This example uses a steel frame and steel cylinder, both finished in matte black, with black textured rubber grips bearing Taurus bull-head logos for a secure hold.
Its 2-inch barrel incorporates a full-length underlug and ejector shroud. The cylinder swings out to the left and is operated by a push-forward thumb piece, with a knurled ejector rod for positive extraction.
Sights are straightforward and durable: a fixed trench rear and a pinned, serrated ramp front sight. The pinned front sight is removable, allowing sight changes if desired.
Controls and internals are configured for double-action/single-action operation with an exposed hammer and a transfer bar safety. The frame is marked "856," and the revolver shows Brazilian manufacture with U.S. import markings including Taurus Int'l Mfg, Bainbridge, GA, and Taurus Armas.
