The Model 669 is a compact 9mm built with a stainless slide over an aluminum-alloy frame, delivering a durable two-tone finish. Its 3.5-inch stainless barrel and rear-only slide serrations support fast handling, while the square trigger guard with front serrations and wrap-around textured black grips with S&W monograms provide secure control.
Controls are straightforward and practical: DA/SA, hammer-fired, and recoil-operated with an exposed spurred hammer. The ambidextrous, slide-mounted safety/decocker includes a red fire indicator dot for quick status confirmation.
Sights are fixed, with a ramped front sporting a red/orange insert and a fixed rear notch, offering a clear and consistent sight picture suitable for defensive or duty-style use. Capacity is 12+1 with the included 12-round magazine.
This U.S.-made compact belongs to S&W’s Second-Generation family. It is the stainless counterpart to the blued Model 469 and the compact derivative of the full-size Model 659. Produced in the mid-1980s with roughly 54,074 made, it was later succeeded by the Model 6906 in 1988. Typical measurements are about 6.875 inches overall and roughly 26 ounces unloaded.
