The K31 uses a straight-pull bolt-action with front-locking lugs for fast, positive cycling. Its receiver bridge is designed to accept Swiss stripper clips, and the action retains the pull-and-rotate bolt sleeve safety familiar to Swiss service rifles.
Sighting is via a protected front post and a tangent rear sight graduated to 1500 m, providing a clear, durable iron sight setup. The barrel measures 25.7 in, and capacity is 6+1 with the detachable steel box magazine.
The hardwood stock features a right-side finger groove, a right-side buttstock sling bar paired with left-side sling configuration, and a steel buttplate. A wood handguard runs above the barrel, and the rifle retains two barrel bands with a front retaining spring and a stacking rod under the muzzle.
Finish is blued over a steel receiver, with markings that include the Swiss federal cross-in-shield crest, a "P" privatization stamp, and a circled "3" stock stamp. The rifle also carries the C.A.I. GEORGIA VT. import stamp and MDL K31 7.5x55 designation.
