The Trooper Mk III is a double-action/single-action revolver with a transfer-bar safety system and coil-spring action, part of Colt’s Mark III series. It uses a six-shot fluted cylinder and is chambered in .357 Magnum.
The 4-inch barrel has a solid rib and a partial ejector-rod shroud with a relief slot. Sighting is handled by a serrated ramp front and a micrometer-style adjustable rear, giving the user precise control over point of aim.
The revolver wears a deep blued finish over carbon steel, paired with a color case-hardened hammer with a checkered spur and a smooth trigger face. Checkered walnut grips with silver Colt medallions complete the classic Colt presentation.
Factory legends include "TROOPER MK III" over ".357 MAGNUM CTG." on the barrel, the Hartford address on the right barrel, and the Colt rampant pony rollmark on the left frame. The gold-filled script inscription on the right-side frame reads "J. Rex Bowbly July 1977," providing a dated personal touch.
