The 1911R is a full-size, single-action 1911 built on a stainless steel frame with a matching matte stainless slide. It uses SIG's squared-top 1911 slide profile with rear cocking serrations and a lowered, flared ejection port for smooth operation. The barrel hood is marked "45 AUTO," and the frame is rollmarked "SIG SAUER INC., EXETER-NH-USA."
Controls and ergonomics follow the 1911 pattern with a thumb safety and grip safety, a solid medium-length trigger, and a skeletonized Commander-style hammer. The front strap is checkered, as is the flat mainspring housing, providing secure purchase. The recoil spring plug features a checkered face for added traction during disassembly.
Sighting is quick and clear with a 3-dot setup that pairs a red fiber-optic front with a low-profile, square-notch rear featuring two dots. The slide and frame wear a uniform matte stainless finish that reduces glare while maintaining the durability of stainless construction.
