The Gen 1 M&P 40 Shield delivers a micro, single-stack profile around a 3.1" stainless steel barrel and a matte black slide. Its striker-fired system uses a hinged trigger for a consistent pull in a compact .40 S&W platform.
Controls are streamlined with a left-side magazine release and a manual thumb safety, paired with an integrated trigger safety. This model is capable of firing with the magazine removed, as it does not have a magazine disconnect.
The slide features rear-only scalloped serrations, an external extractor, and an open-top ejection port. Steel, dovetailed 3-dot sights come standard, with a white-dot front and a drift-adjustable rear.
The polymer frame provides a textured grip and a slim, single-stack profile. As an original-generation Shield, it has no accessory rail, and the frame’s serial number plate includes a 2D data matrix.
