The 2206 Target uses a fixed, low-axis barrel design with the slide and bolt riding above the bore, a layout known for stable sight tracking. It operates via a simple blowback, hammer-fired system with an external hammer. Capacity is 10+1 rounds using the included steel magazines.
Constructed from stainless steel with a matte finish, this model has an overall length of approximately 10.5 inches and weighs around 39 oz with the 6-inch barrel. Factory rollmarks include "MADE IN U.S.A., SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS."
Target sights consist of a ramped front blade and a fully adjustable square-notch rear, delivering a sight radius of about 7.5 inches. The fixed barrel complements the adjustable target sight set for consistent alignment.
Controls include a magazine release and a manual safety with a red-dot fire indicator. Vertical rear slide serrations aid manipulation. Two-piece black synthetic grip panels with S&W medallions and checkering provide a secure hold.
