Made in Germany and imported with HKI Columbus, GA markings, this Mark 23 carries DE proof and CIP N nitro proof stamps that verify its origin and commercial proofing. The green polymer frame features aggressive molded texturing with frontstrap and backstrap checkering for a secure, repeatable hold.
The 5.87 in extended, threaded barrel uses an M16x1 RH pattern and comes with a knurled thread protector. An accuracy O-ring at the muzzle aids barrel-to-slide consistency. The barrel’s polygonal rifling uses a 1:14.88 in twist, and the sight radius measures 7.76 in for a precise sight picture.
The slide wears HK’s corrosion-resistant maritime surface treatment in black. Tall 3-dot iron sights provide a suppressor-height sight picture, with a tall front blade and a tall rear notch that is adjustable for windage and elevation to dial in point of impact.
The pistol operates on a short-recoil, modified Browning system with DA/SA trigger, an ambidextrous manual safety, and a decocking lever. An ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release supports either hand. Capacity is 12+1, and the dual-spring recoil/buffer system is designed to manage .45 ACP service loads. Weight is approximately 2.66 lb with an empty 12-round magazine inserted.
For mounting, the dust cover incorporates HK’s proprietary universal mounting grooves (non-Picatinny). This example is a recent commercial release that traces its lineage to the USSOCOM OHWS MK 23 Mod 0 program while retaining the robust construction and user-focused controls the platform is known for.
