This Government Model is the factory 9mm Luger variant from Colt’s Series '70 era. It retains the classic 5-inch barrel and 8+1 capacity in a traditional 1911 platform, with a blued steel slide and frame for a period-correct appearance and feel.
Series '70 pistols are associated with Colt’s collet barrel bushing update of the era, and this example presents other period features: GI-style fixed sights (small front blade, square-notch rear), rear-only vertical slide serrations, a spur hammer, and an arched mainspring housing. Safety features include the grip safety and thumb safety.
Markings include a cluster of three small proof/inspection stamps ahead of the trigger guard on the right side and a "W" stamp on the right front of the trigger guard. During this period, Colt used a 70L serial prefix on 9mm Government Models, aligning with its factory 9mm configuration.
Made in the United States in 1981, this full-size MK IV/Series '70 offers the traditional Government Model format with Series '70-era details and a notably clean bore and rifling, appealing to buyers who value originality and shootability in a 9mm 1911.
