The 629-6 is the stainless .44 Magnum variant of the Model 29 built on the large S&W N-frame. This example has a 4-inch heavy barrel with a full-length underlug, an integral ejector-rod shroud, and a serrated top rib to reduce glare.
It uses a double-action/single-action system with a frame-mounted firing pin; the hammer does not have an integral firing pin. The revolver incorporates S&W's internal key lock with the lock port located above the cylinder latch.
Sighting is handled by a pinned red-ramp front sight and a fully adjustable rear sight. The fluted, six-shot cylinder has non-recessed chambers, and the teardrop, serrated cylinder latch provides positive operation.
The stainless-steel frame, barrel, and cylinder wear a satin/brushed stainless finish, paired with one-piece black synthetic finger-groove grips bearing the S&W medallion. The factory case label indicates SKU 163603A, and an additional "408" marking is present on the crane.
