Built on a milled Type-3 pattern receiver with the long left-side lightening cut, the SAM7UF reflects Bulgarian factory construction and the SAM7 series design. The receiver is milled steel, providing the traditional profile and rigidity associated with this pattern.
The steel underfolding stock is the AKMS-style configuration with a right-side pushbutton latch and a 13.0 in length of pull. It folds under the receiver for compact storage while retaining the classic underfolder lock-up and handling characteristics.
The 16.3 in barrel is cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined. The rifle uses a 90-degree gas block and an AK-74–style front sight base with 24x1.5 mm right-hand external threads and a spring-loaded detent. An integral bayonet/accessory lug is present on the front end.
Furniture includes Bulgarian wood handguards with a lower palm-swell and a wood upper handguard, paired with a reddish brown checkered polymer/bakelite-style grip. Sights are a protected front post and a tangent rear sight leaf graduated 1–8 (100–800 m).
