The P50 feeds from top-mounted, horizontally oriented PS90-pattern magazines and uses a hinged upper receiver with a rear latch for quick magazine changes and easy maintenance access. Designed capacity is 50+1 rounds, offering extended runtime between reloads.
Its fixed 9.6" steel barrel is free-floating for consistency and threaded 1/2x28 TPI to accept compatible muzzle devices. The 1:14 twist rate supports common 5.7x28mm loads, and the bore condition is excellent.
Operation is semi-automatic, straight blowback, with a dual recoil spring/guide rod system. The pistol is hammer-fired, single-action, and includes a manual safety and single-action trigger characteristics.
Construction pairs an aluminum upper/receiver and steel components with a glass-reinforced nylon frame. The long, ventilated aluminum upper/handguard features circular vent holes. A full-length top 1913 Picatinny rail and a short 6 o'clock accessory rail provide broad mounting options for accessories.
Factory markings indicate Cocoa, Florida manufacture. Overall length is approximately 15.0", with an approximate weight of 3.2 lb. The pistol wears a uniform black finish, and the grip uses Kel-Tec's gator texturing for secure handling.
