The Special Forces is Ed Brown's Government-pattern 1911 built on a stainless-steel platform with a durable Black Gen4 finish on both slide and frame. It is a single-action-only, short-recoil-operated pistol with a 7+1 capacity and a non-railed dust cover. Factory literature lists approximate dimensions of 8.75 in overall length, 5.5 in height, and 38 oz with magazine.
The 5 in bushing barrel uses a recessed crown, and the hood is marked "ED BROWN 45 ACP." The slide is configured with rear-only cocking serrations, a flattened and serrated top to cut glare, and a lowered ejection port. A countersunk/recessed slide stop and GI-length recoil system with a checkered recoil spring plug are also factory features.
Controls include an extended thumb safety and a beavertail grip safety with a memory bump. The fire-control setup features a long, three-hole trigger and a skeletonized commander-style hammer, consistent with a tuned 1911 pattern. The pistol retains the traditional 1911 single-action manual of arms.
Ergonomics are aided by traditional diamond-cut checkering on the front strap and the flat mainspring housing, paired with black textured grip panels for a positive hold. Sighting equipment consists of a dovetailed orange-dot front blade and a plain black, ledge-style rear, both fixed and drift-adjustable for windage.
Markings include "Ed Brown Products, Perry, MO USA" on the left side of the frame and "CUSTOM BY Ed Brown" on the right side of the slide. The finish, sighting setup, and texture pattern present a clean, cohesive build from Ed Brown with practical carry and range features.
