The MPX Gen 2 uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt, combining 9mm control with a proven operating method. It is configured with right-side ejection, a dust cover, and a shell deflector. Selector markings use SAFE/SEMI pictograms, and the ambidextrous safety selector provides familiar controls. Capacity is 30+1.
The barrel assembly reaches a legal 16-inch length via an extended muzzle device that is pinned and welded to the barrel. This permanent attachment is factory-style and provides compliance without changing the MPX handling characteristics buyers expect from this carbine format.
Furniture includes a two-rod collapsible stock with a triangular polymer buttplate and integrated sling loop. The length of pull is 12.25 inches. A Magpul MOE-K pistol grip is installed for a secure, textured hold. The free-float aluminum handguard uses the early KeyMod pattern associated with the earlier MPX carbine configuration.
A continuous MIL-STD-1913 top rail runs across the receiver and handguard. Magpul MBUS polymer flip-up front and rear sights are installed. Markings include SIG SAUER, INC., NEWINGTON, NH, SIG MPX, and the SIG logo on the magwell, noting its U.S. manufacture.
