Designed by John M. Browning, the Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless is a single-action, straight-blowback pistol with an internal, shrouded hammer. This Type III example reflects the 1910–1926 configuration and was manufactured in 1921 in the United States.
The Type III pattern omits a magazine disconnect and uses an integral-nose slide. The rear sight is drift-adjustable for windage per factory specification. The manual thumb safety can lock the slide for a manual hold-open and for disassembly, and a grip safety provides an additional passive safeguard.
Construction is carbon steel with a blued finish, paired with checkered black hard-rubber Colt grips. The slide has vertical rear serrations and an external extractor. Sights are fixed and low-profile, with a rounded half-moon front blade and a small rear notch.
Chambered in .380 ACP, it uses an 8-round single-stack magazine. The barrel measures 3.75 inches, with an approximate overall length of 6.75 inches and an unloaded weight of about 24 ounces, giving it a compact, micro-size footprint for the series.
Factory rollmarks include the right-side legend "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE .380 HAMMERLESS," Browning-era patent dates and the Colt Hartford address on the left slide, and the Rampant Colt logo. This example is finished in blue, one of the factory finishes offered for the series.
