The M&P 9 Shield 1.0 is a striker-fired, single-stack 9mm built for discreet carry and straightforward operation. This no-manual-safety variant uses a hinged trigger with an integrated trigger safety and is capable of firing with the magazine removed, as indicated by the slide marking.
The stainless steel slide and barrel receive a Melonite/Armornite nitride treatment for durability and a uniform black finish. Steel, dovetailed 3-dot sights provide a clear sight picture. The slide is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA U.S.A." on the left and "CAUTION–CAPABLE OF FIRING WITH MAGAZINE REMOVED" on the right.
Rear-only, wave-pattern serrations offer positive purchase for press checks and manipulation. The black polymer frame features textured grip panels with S&W medallions for confident hand placement.
This example includes both a 7-round flush magazine and an 8-round extended magazine for a capacity of up to 8+1. The factory box lists the barrel length as 3.125 inches; Smith & Wesson also specifies it as 3.1 inches.
