The REC7 Gen II uses Barrett's short-stroke gas piston system with a removable, detented gas plug offering two settings. The piston housing and gas block sit just forward of the handguard for easy access. This design keeps fouling out of the receiver while maintaining a compact, balanced feel.
The 16-inch barrel is cold-hammer-forged and chrome-lined with a 1:7 twist, stamped "BFMI 5.56 NATO 1/7." The threaded muzzle is fitted with a three-prong flash hider. This configuration suits common 5.56 NATO loads and provides durability for extended use.
Barrett's free-float BRS/Enhanced Rail is an aluminum KeyMod handguard with a full-length T-marked Picatinny top rail. A folding front sight is installed; no rear sight is included. The handguard is marked with a small U.S. flag and "MADE IN USA."
The receivers are aluminum with a hard-coat anodized finish and carry factory markings: "BARRETT," "BARRETT FIREARMS MFG., INC., MURFREESBORO, TN," "REC7," and "CAL. MULTI." Furniture includes a Magpul MOE 6-position collapsible stock with approximately 10–13.5 inches of length of pull and an A2-style polymer pistol grip.
Included accessories add practical utility: an Olight Odin S weapon light with remote pressure switch (with charger and box), a short vertical foregrip, and a QD sling mount installed on the handguard. One 30-round CAA polymer magazine is provided to complete the setup.
