The Compact Tactical variant features a stainless steel barrel that is cold hammer-forged, threaded 1/2x28, and fitted with an O-ring at the muzzle. Suppressor-height iron sights provide a tall sight picture designed to clear muzzle devices and align with a mounted MRD.
FN's Low-Profile Optics Mounting System (LPOMS) is machined into the slide with front and rear cocking serrations. The installed Leupold DeltaPoint Pro offers a clear MRD aiming solution, and the tall irons provide co-witness capability for a consistent backup sight picture.
The polymer frame in black includes an accessory rail on the dust cover for lights or other attachments, with fully ambidextrous slide stop levers and an ambidextrous magazine release. This striker-fired, semi-automatic 9mm has a 15+1 capacity, and this example ships with a total of seven magazines for range or duty rotation.
Dimensions remain compact and carry-friendly, with an overall length of approximately 7.4 inches and weight about 26.2 oz. Built in the United States, the 509 platform is known for its extensive endurance development, and the Compact Tactical configuration (announced May 19, 2020) brings those design refinements to a threaded-barrel, MRD-equipped compact.
