Product Description

Savage Model 99 Carbine .30-30 Lever Action, 20" Barrel, Lyman Tang Sight, Rotary Magazine (Early 1920s, per markings)

This Savage Arms Model 99 Carbine is a hammerless lever-action in .30-30 from the early 1920s era, indicated by the "SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION, UTICA N.Y., MADE IN U.S.A." barrel rollmark and the "HI-PRESSURE STEEL - PROOF TESTED" marking. It features the Model 99's internal rotary magazine with left-side cartridge counter and a true carbine 20" barrel with a barrel-band fore-end. It includes a Lyman tang aperture sight, a mixed finish with the receiver retaining bluing while the barrel presents bright, in-the-white steel where bluing is largely absent, and a walnut stock with a 13.0" length of pull. The receiver top is smooth and not drilled and tapped for scope mounting, and the lever retains case-hardening colors.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Very good condition, showing only light, superficial signs of prior handling or use.

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Minor superficial scratches and small blemishes are present from prior handling and use.

    What's Included

    • Savage Arms Model 99 Carbine rifle (.30-30)
    • Installed Lyman tang aperture sight

The Model 99's internal rotary magazine with a left-side cartridge counter window is a defining feature, paired here with .30-30 chambering and a stated 5+1 capacity. The carbine configuration is correct with a 20" barrel and barrel-band fore-end.

The sighting system is set up for practical field use: a plain blade front, a barrel-mounted open rear, and an installed Lyman tang aperture peep. The Lyman tang sights on this rifle add a precise aperture option while preserving the classic iron-sight profile.

Construction is all steel with a blued receiver; the barrel finish is largely worn/stripped to bright, in-the-white steel. The lever retains visible case-hardening colors. The receiver top is smooth and not drilled and tapped for scope mounting. Proof markings include "HI-PRESSURE STEEL - PROOF TESTED."

The stock is walnut with a semi-pistol-grip profile and uncheckered surfaces. Length of pull measures 13.0". A forend barrel band secures the fore-end, consistent with the carbine pattern.
