The FN 503 is a striker-fired, micro-size 9mm built for a slim footprint. Its slide measures 0.9 inches wide, with an overall width of 1.1 inches, aiding concealment while maintaining a full, usable grip with the included extended magazine.
The 3.1-inch steel barrel is nitride-treated, and the slide carries rear serrations only with a durable black finish. There is no dedicated loaded-chamber indicator window; status checks can be performed via a press-check or by viewing through the ejection port.
Low-profile, three-dot iron sights are dovetailed front and rear, using FN 509-pattern dovetails for straightforward sight changes. The sight radius is 5.1 inches for a clear, consistent sight picture.
Controls include a left-side magazine release and a polymer trigger shoe with a central safety tab. Internal safeties consist of a striker block and a trigger disconnect lever. The black polymer frame features aggressive textured grip panels with FN oval medallions. Capacity is 8+1 with the extended magazine or 6+1 with the flush/pinky-extension magazine.
