Product Description

    Winchester Model 64 .30-30 Lever-Action Carbine, 20-inch Barrel, Half Magazine (1937–1940)

This Winchester Model 64 stands out for its 20-inch round, tapered barrel with half-length tubular magazine, a configuration collectors often call the carbine and see less frequently than the 24-inch rifle length. Built on the Model 94-type top-eject receiver, factory drilled and tapped on the left rear for a receiver peep sight (filler screws present); an additional, non-factory/unfilled hole is present on the right receiver wall above the loading gate. It carries pre-1950 "30 W.C.F." barrel markings that align with its 1937–1940 production window. Traditional iron sights and correct Winchester rollmarks round out a classic, period-correct configuration.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Fair - Generally clean, some residue or smudges, slight corrosion.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The buttstock appears to be a replacement, and there is wood missing around the top tang. The receiver shows some pitting and metal wear. When inspected with a light, the bore displays a pronounced ring approximately 1.25 inches back from the muzzle. Additionally, there is an extra, non-factory/unfilled hole on the right receiver wall above the loading gate.

    What's Included

    • Winchester Model 64 .30-30 lever-action rifle with 20-inch barrel

Built on the Model 94-type action, this Model 64 uses a top-eject receiver and comes factory drilled and tapped on the left rear for a receiver peep sight, with filler screws currently installed. Note: an additional, non-factory/unfilled hole is present on the right receiver wall above the loading gate. The receiver and barrel display the correct Winchester markings of the period, including "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL," "MODEL 64," "WINCHESTER — TRADE MARK," and "30 W.C.F."

The 20-inch round, tapered barrel feeds from a half-length tubular magazine with a 5-round capacity. Collectors often refer to this 20-inch setup as the carbine configuration, which is encountered less often than the 24-inch rifle version from the same era.

Sighting equipment is period-appropriate iron: a ramped front blade and a barrel-dovetailed folding rear sight. The pre-1950 "30 W.C.F." caliber rollmark is a useful dating cue and aligns with the documented 1937–1940 manufacturing range.

Furniture is walnut, featuring a pistol-grip stock with a fluted comb, smooth surfaces without checkering, and a checkered steel shotgun-style buttplate with a widow's-peak profile. The rifle-style forearm is also walnut and is capped with a steel nose cap. Length of pull measures 13.25 inches.
