Product Description

Winchester Model 92 Saddle Ring Carbine .25-20 WCF, 20 Inch Barrel, 1927 Production

This Winchester Model 92 Saddle Ring Carbine, made in 1927, is a classic .25-20 WCF lever action with the desirable 20-inch round barrel and full-length tubular magazine. It carries Winchester "WP" proof marks and period rollmarks, paired with blued carbon steel and straight-grain walnut furniture. The carbine configuration, top-eject solid-frame action, and standard loop lever make it a well-defined example of a 1920s Winchester carbine.

The barrel is rollmarked "MODEL 92 - WINCHESTER - 25-20 W.C.F. - TRADE MARK." and the receiver and barrel each bear the Winchester oval "WP" proofs. The receiver is the classic top-eject, solid-frame (non-takedown) style, and the carbine wears two barrel bands—a rear band at the front of the forearm and a front band near the muzzle that secures the barrel and magazine tube—with a saddle ring on the left side.

Sighting equipment is period-correct iron: a barrel-dovetailed blade front and an open leaf rear with elevator (semi-buckhorn). The straight-grip walnut carbine stock ends in a smooth steel carbine buttplate with no trap, and the length of pull measures 12.5 inches.

Chambered in .25-20 Win., this Model 92 feeds from an 8+1 capacity, full-length tubular magazine and runs via a standard loop lever. The overall finish is blued carbon steel over receiver and barrel, true to its era and configuration.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The metal surfaces show scattered surface rust and areas of finish loss. There are handling marks from prior use. The bore presents a bright, clean interior.

    What’s Included

    • Sling: Leather saddle ring thong (installed)

This carbine retains its classic saddle ring configuration with a 20-inch round barrel and two barrel bands (rear forearm band and front muzzle band securing the barrel and magazine tube), reflecting the Winchester carbine pattern of the period. The full-length tubular magazine supports an 8+1 capacity in .25-20 WCF, and the solid-frame action ensures top ejection, as expected for the Model 92.

The blued carbon steel receiver and barrel, combined with straight-grain walnut furniture, present the traditional Winchester look and feel. The stock is a straight-grip carbine type with a smooth steel buttplate, without a trap, aligning with its original carbine setup.

Markings include the Winchester address with "Made in U.S.A." and the barrel rollmark identifying the model, maker, and caliber. Winchester oval "WP" proofs appear on both the barrel and receiver, verifying factory proofing.
