What’s Included
- Winchester Model 1894 Takedown Short Rifle in .32 Win. Spl.
Built in 1910 in the USA, this Model 1894 is a factory takedown short rifle in .32 Winchester Special with a 19-inch octagon barrel. The configuration and barrel length indicate it was most likely custom ordered from Winchester as a 19-inch takedown rifle, an eye-catching and practical setup from the period.
The nickel steel barrel is roll-marked "32 W.S." at the chamber and carries the legend "NICKEL STEEL BARREL — ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER," highlighting Winchester’s smokeless-era metallurgy. The upper tang reads "MODEL 1894 — WINCHESTER — TRADE MARK," and the rifle wears a dovetailed front blade and a sporting rear sight with elevator.
The top-eject receiver with right-side loading gate feeds from a full-length tubular magazine with a 5+1 capacity. The factory takedown system allows the barrel and magazine assembly to be separated from the receiver and stock, a hallmark 1894 feature valued for transport and maintenance.
Stocked in walnut, the rifle has a straight-grip buttstock with a rifle-style fore-end cap and a crescent steel buttplate. Length of pull measures 13.0 inches. The excellent, mirror-bright bore with sharp rifling complements the rifle’s overall honest presentation and period-correct details.
