Product Description

Winchester Model 1886 Extra Light .33 WCF Lever-Action, 24-inch Nickel Steel Barrel, Half Magazine (1916)

This Winchester Model 1886 Extra Light is a solid-frame, U.S.-made lever-action rifle chambered in .33 WCF and manufactured in 1916. It features a 24-inch round, tapered nickel-steel barrel with a half-length tubular magazine, top ejection with Browning dual vertical locking bars, and factory smokeless-proof "WP" stamps on the barrel and receiver ring. The rifle retains its straight-grip walnut stock with a checkered steel shotgun buttplate, a walnut forend with steel cap, and the standard-size lever loop. Markings include the barrel address with 1884 and 1885 patent dates, the upper tang trade-mark legend, and caliber marking ".33 W.C.F." The serial number carries an "A" suffix.

    What’s Included

    • Winchester Model 1886 Extra Light .33 WCF lever-action rifle

The Extra Light configuration combines a 24-inch round, tapered nickel-steel barrel with a half-length tubular magazine to reduce weight compared to standard configurations. This example is a solid-frame (non-takedown) rifle with top ejection and the Browning dual vertical locking bars that define the strength of the 1886 action.

Factory markings and proofs are present and notable. The barrel shows the Winchester address with 1884 and 1885 patent dates, the caliber marking ".33 W.C.F.," and the Winchester oval "WP" smokeless-proof. The receiver ring also carries the oval "WP" smokeless-proof, and the upper tang bears the trade-mark legend. The serial number includes an "A" suffix.

Stock and furniture follow the Extra Light pattern: a straight-grip walnut stock fitted with a steel shotgun buttplate that is checkered, and a matching walnut forend with a steel cap. The standard-size lever loop and exposed spurred hammer complete the classic 1886 profile.

Sighting equipment consists of open sights with a ramped front blade and an adjustable rear sporting sight with a step elevator. Length of pull measures 13.25 inches.

Chambered in .33 WCF and produced in the smokeless era, this 1916 rifle represents the later production evolution of the Model 1886, pairing nickel-steel barrel construction with the Extra Light format for a durable, field-ready configuration of its time.
