This is the original single-stack Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Shield in 9mm, built in the USA with a 3.1-inch stainless steel barrel and a black Melonite-finished slide. It is a micro-size, striker-fired pistol featuring a left-side manual thumb safety and a loaded chamber viewport. This example includes both 7- and 8-round factory magazines and has an aftermarket adhesive grip wrap installed on the frame for added traction.

The slide is marked "M&P 9 SHIELD" with the S&W Springfield, MA address, and uses rear-only fish-scale serrations with an external extractor. The stainless slide and barrel wear a durable black Melonite finish, matched to a black polymer frame with the S&W medallion.
The striker-fired system uses a hinged trigger with an integrated safety mechanism. Safety features include a left-side manual thumb safety, a loaded chamber indicator viewport, and a sear deactivation lever for disassembly. The model is capable of firing with the magazine removed (no magazine disconnect).
Three-dot white sights are installed, with a white dot front blade and a two-dot rear set in a dovetail. The configuration is straightforward and easy to maintain, with clear sight indexing and positive slide control.
This micro-size Shield ships with two factory single-stack magazines: a 7-round flush-fit and an 8-round with finger extension, supporting its listed 8+1 capacity. An adhesive grip wrap is applied to the pistol grip and the extended magazine base to enhance purchase without altering the frame.
