The SR9c pairs a striker-fired, locked-breech action with a compact footprint and a 3.5" barrel, making it the downsized member of the SR-Series. Its glass-filled nylon frame is finished in black and includes an integral accessory rail for lights or other rail-mounted equipment.
The slide wears a black Nitrodox Pro finish and features front and rear cocking serrations for confident manipulation. It is marked "RUGER PRESCOTT, AZ USA" and includes a top-mounted loaded chamber indicator clearly marked "LOADED WHEN UP."
Controls are fully featured and user-friendly: an ambidextrous manual thumb safety, ambidextrous D-shaped magazine release buttons, and a trigger with an integral safety blade. Additional passive safeties include a magazine disconnect and an internal striker blocker, along with the visual/tactile loaded chamber indicator.
Ergonomics are adaptable via the reversible backstrap, which can be set flat or arched, and the molded grip texturing with Ruger medallion inserts provides a secure hold. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation and windage, and the front sight is windage-adjustable.
Magazine flexibility is a highlight of the SR9c. This pistol accepts full-size SR9 magazines when used with the included grip sleeve, enabling a maximum capacity of 16+1. SR-pattern magazines are also compatible with the Ruger PC Carbine when using the appropriate mag-well insert. Notably, the SR9c earned the 2010 Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence Handgun of the Year award and has since been discontinued.
