Winchester released this John Wayne Commemorative in 1981 as a standard-issue run of 49,000 rifles, identifiable by the JW-prefix serial. This carbine configuration pairs the 18.5-inch round barrel with a full-length tubular magazine for an 8+1 capacity.
The factory-engraved, silver-toned receiver showcases John Wayne film titles, stagecoach and posse vignettes, and scrollwork, complemented by matching silver-toned lever and barrel bands. The blued barrel and magazine tube create a classic two-tone presentation.
Stock details include straight-grip, checkered walnut with an inlaid John Wayne medallion and a signature plate, along with a 13.0-inch length of pull. The large big-loop finger lever is a defining feature of this commemorative model.
