This Lightweight Commander configuration balances a satin stainless slide over a black anodized aluminum alloy frame for a practical two-tone finish. Checkered hardwood double-diamond grips with Ruger medallions provide a secure hold, while rear slide serrations and a lowered/flared ejection port support efficient manipulation and ejection.
The pistol follows Series 70 architecture and uses a titanium firing pin with a heavy firing-pin spring. Safety features include a left-side extended manual thumb safety, grip safety, and a half-cock notch. The skeletonized trigger and hammer complete the package with a crisp, familiar 1911 interface.
Ruger equips this model with fixed Novak LoMount-style sights with dovetailed front and rear. The Commander-length 4.25-inch barrel runs a 1:16 right-hand twist with 6-groove rifling, and the GI-style recoil spring plug maintains a traditional setup.
Engineering touches tailored for the alloy frame include an integral plunger tube and a polished titanium feed-ramp insert. The barrel and bushing are matched and machined from a single bar, emphasizing precise fit. Markings observed include "Ruger Made in USA," "45 AUTO" on the barrel hood, "Prescott AZ," "Ruger SR1911," and the Ruger phoenix logo.
