The Prodigy AOS is part of Springfield Armory's first double-stack 1911 line, introduced in 2022, combining 1911 ergonomics with 17+1 capacity in 9mm. This example uses a commander-length 4.25 in configuration for balanced handling while retaining a full-featured setup.
The stainless steel, match-grade, bushingless bull barrel with a 1:16 twist is paired with a forged steel slide and frame, all finished in black Cerakote. A textured polymer double-stack grip module with a removable, flared magwell streamlines reloads and provides a consistent hold.
The slide carries forward and rear cocking serrations and the Agency Optic System plate is installed. Sighting is through a green fiber-optic front and a black U-notch rear, with the included AOS screws and hardware for the mounting system.
Controls include a single-action system with a skeletonized hammer and three-hole trigger, an ambidextrous thumb safety, grip safety, and a left-side magazine release. A single-slot Picatinny accessory rail is machined into the dust cover for mounting compatible accessories. The included 17-round magazine features numbered witness holes to 17.
