This NRCH Gen 2 configuration delivers FN's non-reciprocating charging handle system. The handles are ambidextrous, lock forward during firing, and this rifle is set up with the handle installed on the left side.
The short-stroke gas piston system uses an adjustable/removable gas regulator for reliable operation with 7.62x51. The action is semi-automatic with a manual safety and a 20+1 capacity.
A monolithic aluminum upper receiver machined from an extrusion provides a continuous, T-marked 12 o'clock Picatinny rail, and the extended aluminum M-LOK handguard adds mounting slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. The rifle wears FN's factory two-tone FDE finish: lighter on the aluminum upper/handguard and darker on the polymer lower and folding stock.
The 16 inch cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel is paired with a two-port muzzle brake. The folding stock features an adjustable cheek riser and a length-of-pull range of 12.0–14.5 inches. Markings include "SCAR 17S MULTI-CALIBER," "FN COLUMBIA, SC USA," and "MADE IN USA."
