This 1978 Browning BAR High-Power Grade I is a first-generation (Type 2) example with a steel receiver and polished blued finish, made in Belgium and assembled in Portugal. It features a 22 inch .30-06 barrel, Belgian proof marks, period-correct Browning barrel inscriptions, and a 4+1 detachable box magazine retained in a hinged floorplate. A Charles Daly 2–7x32mm scope is installed on factory-style bases and rings.

Overall Condition: Poor condition.
Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Specific condition notes: The buttstock shows several cracks behind the action that appear to have been reglued and blended. A full refinish could conceal the repair. There are markings and areas of surface rust from previous handling and use.

The High-Power Grade I configuration pairs a steel receiver with plain polished blue sides and a 22 inch steel barrel chambered in .30-06. This first-generation (Type 2) setup reflects the early BAR pattern known for its forged steel construction and clean Grade I styling.
Manufacture and assembly details are period-correct: made in Belgium and assembled in Portugal in 1978, with Belgian proof marks on the barrel shank. Barrel inscriptions include "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q." and "BAR CALIBER 30.06 ONLY" over "BROWNING PATENTS."
The rifle is gas-operated and semi-automatic, feeding from a detachable box magazine retained within a hinged floorplate for a 4+1 capacity in .30-06. Length of pull measures 13.75 inches.
Stock furniture is gloss-finished walnut with cut checkering, a checkered walnut pistol grip, sling swivel studs, and a Browning-marked black hard buttplate. The metal exhibits a polished blued finish on both the receiver and barrel.
Sighting equipment includes a ramped hooded front sight and an adjustable rear sight. For optics, the rifle is equipped with installed bases and rings, along with a mounted Charles Daly 2–7x32mm 1 inch SFP scope with a Duplex reticle.
