Built by the Colt Custom Shop as a Gunsite collaboration, this Lightweight Commander is marked with the "COLT GUNSITE PISTOL" rollmark and the Gunsite raven logo. It is a Series 70 configuration with no firing pin block, aligning with traditional 1911 internals.
The pistol uses a Commander-length 4.25 in barrel and the Browning short-recoil, tilting-barrel system. Capacity is 8+1 in .45 ACP, and it operates single-action only on the 1911 platform.
Sight regulation is handled by a Novak-marked low-mount rear and a dovetailed front sight. Controls include a single-side extended thumb safety and an upswept/beavertail grip safety. The hammer is the Commander-style rowel type, and the trigger is a solid, smooth-faced aluminum unit.
The slide has rear serrations only and sits over a matte gray hard-anodized aluminum alloy frame, creating a purposeful two-tone look (blued/black slide over gray frame). The recoil system is GI-style with a short guide rod, a separate barrel bushing, and a checkered recoil spring plug. Grips are double-diamond checkered hardwood panels.
Manufactured in the United States in 2003 (mfg part number 04840CGP), this example reflects the specification set associated with the Colt/Gunsite Lightweight Commander program from the 2000s.
