This L5 configuration combines a hard-coat anodized aluminum frame with a steel slide and barrel for a lighter carry and handling profile while retaining the Desert Eagle’s robust construction. The 5 inch barrel incorporates an integral muzzle brake, porting, and lightening cuts specific to the L5 design.
Chambered in .44 Rem Magnum, the pistol uses a single-stack 8-round magazine for an 8+1 capacity. Dimensions include an overall length of 9.69 inches, a height of 6.25 inches, and a slide width of 1.25 inches. Sights are fixed, with a front blade and a rear notch.
The Mark XIX action is gas-operated with a rotating bolt and a single-action trigger. Controls include a slide-mounted, ambidextrous safety with a red fire indicator and an external hammer. The wrap-around, finger-groove rubber grip with pebble texture provides a secure hold.
An integral Picatinny/Weaver rail is machined on top of the barrel/shroud; the aluminum frame/dust cover is smooth with no bottom accessory rail.
The barrel is marked "44 MAG," and the pistol bears "DESERT EAGLE PISTOL MADE IN USA" and "MAGNUM RESEARCH INC., PILLAGER, MN USA."
