What’s Included
- 1x 10-round detachable 7.62mm 2A/2A1-pattern steel box magazine
- Green web sling (installed)
- Butt-trap tool/disc stamped "ICR 1336" (installed in buttplate trap)
The 2A1 pattern retains the SMLE’s fast cock-on-closing action and 10-round magazine, now chambered in 7.62x51 NATO. The receiver and bolt steel were purpose-built for this cartridge, and the rifle accepts No.1-pattern bayonets via the bayonet boss.
Sighting is handled by a protected front blade and a tangent ladder rear sight recalibrated to 200–800 m, a hallmark change of the 2A1. The hardwood furniture includes a full-length fore-end, two-piece handguards, and a steel buttplate with trap.
Markings are extensive and legible: the receiver bears the Ashoka crest and "RIFLE / 7.62mm 2A1 / R.F.I. / 1967." The rear sight leaf is stamped "ICR 1559 / R.F.I." The buttstock carries an "SA" in triangle cartouche. The right receiver wall shows the importer mark "N.A.C. ROME, N.Y. .308 IND."
The rifle wears the factory black stoving/baked enamel finish and features the SMLE charger bridge. The listed barrel length is 20 inches. The installed green web sling and the butt-trap tool/disc complement the rifle’s service-issue configuration.
