Product Description

Weatherby Mark V Varmintmaster .22-250 Rem Bolt-Action, 26 in Barrel, Japan Howa Production, High-Polish Blue, Walnut Monte Carlo Stock

Early Howa-made Weatherby Mark V Varmintmaster chambered in .22-250 Rem and produced circa 1972–1973. This rifle features the Mark V multi-lug action with a short 54-degree bolt lift, a 26-inch barrel rollmarked "MARK V VARMINTMASTER" and "USE ONLY .22-250 REM.", and the desirable South Gate, Calif. address alongside "MADE IN JAPAN" markings. High-polish blued steel and a high-gloss walnut Monte Carlo stock with classic Weatherby appointments set it apart. Redfield 1-inch scope rings with two-piece bases are installed.

    What’s Included

    • Optics Mounts: Redfield 1-inch scope rings with two-piece bases (installed)

The Varmintmaster variant pairs the .22-250 Rem chambering with a 26-inch barrel for velocity-focused performance. Factory rollmarks include "MARK V VARMINTMASTER" and "USE ONLY .22-250 REM." The receiver shows both "MADE IN JAPAN" and "SOUTH GATE CALIF." markings, indicating early Howa/Japan production during the 1970s.

The Mark V action uses a multi-lug bolt and a short 54-degree bolt lift for fast cycling. This example has a fluted bolt body and a polished round bolt knob, with the safety lever located on the right side behind the bolt handle. A hinged floorplate feeds from an internal box magazine, providing a 5+1 capacity.

Metalwork is finished in high-polish blued steel. The stock is high-gloss walnut with a Monte Carlo comb and right-hand cheekpiece, skip-line checkering, a rosewood forend tip with spacer lines, a rosewood grip cap with white diamond inlay, a Weatherby recoil pad with white-line spacer(s), and QD sling swivel studs.

Two-piece scope bases with the circled "R" logo and 1-inch Redfield rings are installed, allowing the buyer to mount a compatible optic immediately. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
