The MCX Virtus operating system uses a short-stroke gas piston with a two-position adjustable gas valve for suppressed and unsuppressed settings. The 16-inch cold-hammer-forged steel barrel is threaded 1/2x28 and capped with a three-prong flash hider, with a 1:7 twist to stabilize common 5.56mm NATO projectiles.
Its internal recoil system enables true use of the side-folding, telescoping stock, including firing with the stock folded. The stock locks via a robust hinge, offers five positions for adjustable length of pull, and mounts via a 1913 rear interface. Receivers and handguard are finished in gray with black furniture.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the safety selector, magazine release, and bolt catch. A Radian Raptor-LT ambidextrous charging handle is installed for positive manipulation. The rifle includes a two-stage trigger and a manual safety.
The free-float aluminum M-LOK handguard provides accessory mounting, while the full-length 12-o'clock Picatinny rail offers room for sights and optics. A SIG folding front and rear sight set is installed, and a polymer M-LOK handstop is mounted at the 6 o'clock position.
Built on the MCX modular architecture, this rifle supports quick-change barrel and caliber conversions. The ejection port cover is marked "MULTI-CAL." The factory label shows part number WRMCX-16B-TAP-P with a date of 16-MAY-2022. Made in the USA.
