Product Description

    Winchester Model 62 .22 S/L/LR Pump-Action Takedown Rifle, 23 in Barrel (1938)

This 1938 Winchester Model 62 is a pre-WWII pump-action .22 in the standard S/L/LR configuration with a 23 in barrel and takedown design. It wears a blued finish with a straight-grip walnut stock and grooved walnut slide handle. The barrel is rollmarked "- MODEL 62 - WINCHESTER - 22 S. L. OR L.R -" with the New Haven address, and both the barrel and receiver carry Winchester oval WP proofs.

The receiver bears an "A" suffix with the numeric serial on the tang, a configuration documented as normal for this model.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The firearm is in good shape for its age. Finish wear and some age-appropriate discoloration are present. Handling wear is visible.

    What’s Included

    • Winchester Model 62 pump-action rifle chambered in .22 S/L/LR

The Model 62 is chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle, offering versatile feeding in a single rifle. Capacity is 14+1 with .22 Long Rifle, with typical tube capacities of 20 Short, 16 Long, and 14 Long Rifle.

The rifle features a 23 in barrel with open sights: a dovetailed front blade and an open rear sight with a stepped elevator. This sight arrangement is correct for the model and era.

Construction includes a blued finish, straight-grip walnut stock, and a grooved walnut slide handle. The length of pull is 13.0 in, and the action uses an exposed hammer. The takedown configuration allows the barrel/magazine assembly to separate from the receiver and stock.

Markings include Winchester oval WP proofs on both barrel and receiver, the barrel model/caliber rollmark, and the New Haven address. The receiver’s "A" suffix with the numeric serial on the tang is documented as normal for the Model 62. This example is the standard S/L/LR configuration, not the .22 Short-only Gallery model.
