The Model 5946 is the DAO counterpart to the DA/SA 5906 in S&W’s 3rd Generation lineup, delivering a consistent double-action-only trigger pull with a bobbed, spurless hammer. It is built on the full-size 59-series frame and is marked on the frame as MOD 5946.
Construction is all stainless steel with a matte, bead-blasted appearance on both slide and frame. The frame features a rounded trigger guard and a vertically serrated front strap, paired with a one-piece black synthetic wraparound grip with molded checkering for a solid, uniform hold.
Sights are low-mount, fixed Novak-style 3-dot units with dovetailed front and rear blades. The 4.0-inch barrel and 15+1 capacity round out the duty-size configuration, with a standard left-side magazine release for familiar control placement.
The slide carries filler plugs at the traditional safety/decocker positions, reflecting the DAO configuration. Factory rollmarks include SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFIELD, MA U.S.A. with the S&W crest, and a prominent CAUTION - CAPABLE OF FIRING WITH MAGAZINE REMOVED. Country of origin is USA.
