Built in Belgium and marked FN HERSTAL BELGIUM with FNH USA Fredericksburg VA importer information, this SCAR 17S delivers the platform’s hallmark construction with an aluminum monolithic upper and polymer lower. The rifle uses a short-stroke gas piston, semi-automatic action paired with a 16.25-inch barrel and a threaded muzzle.
The top of the monolithic upper carries a full-length T-marked MIL-STD-1913 rail, and the handguard includes a short 1913 accessory rail section at the 6 o'clock position. Folding iron sights are installed.
This example is upgraded with a KDG MREX M-LOK handguard extension for expanded accessory mounting and an installed Mission First Tactical vertical foregrip. An aftermarket multi-port muzzle brake, marked with U.S. Patent No. 8,042,448, is installed on the threaded barrel.
The stock folds to the side and telescopes for length adjustment, and it includes a rubberized buttpad and hinge block. Controls include a reciprocating left-side charging handle and a manual safety. The rifle uses a detachable box magazine interface with a stated maximum capacity of 20+1.
