The MK III series uses a transfer-bar safety and revised lockwork, delivering a durable DA/SA action suited to .357 Magnum pressures. This revolver retains a smooth trigger face and an exposed hammer with a checkered spur for confident cocking.
The 4-inch barrel pairs with fixed sights: a ramped, serrated front blade and an integral square-notch rear in the topstrap. Anti-glare longitudinal serrations cut into the topstrap help reduce glare in varied lighting. The ejector rod is unshrouded and knurled, matching the correct 4-inch Lawman MK III pattern.
Its bright nickel finish presents a striking look across the frame, cylinder, and barrel, and this finish was a factory-offered option within the MK III line. The revolver wears checkered walnut service-type grips with gold Colt medallions and a square-butt frame.
A six-shot fluted cylinder rotates clockwise. Rollmarks include "LAWMAN MK III * .357 MAGNUM CTG. *" on the left side of the barrel, "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG.
CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A." on the right, and the Colt rampant pony on the left side of the frame. Made in the United States and dating to the 1970s era, this example is specifically from 1978.
