This F-Series Baby Dragoon reproduces the early Colt pocket revolver pattern in .31 caliber with a 4 inch octagonal barrel and single-action percussion operation. True to the Baby Dragoon design, it omits a loading lever; the cylinder is removed for charging. The square-back trigger guard, wedge-retained barrel with retaining screw, and oval cylinder stop slots follow the classic form.
Finish and materials are consistent with Colt's 2nd Generation Blackpowder standards: a high-polish blued barrel and cylinder, a color casehardened frame and hammer, and silver-plated brass grip straps. The one-piece varnished walnut grip complements the period-correct look and feel.
The five-chamber unfluted cylinder bears a roll-engraved scene and a panel marked COLT'S PATENT, adding to its historical fidelity. Sighting is straightforward and traditional with a small brass bead front sight and a hammer-notch rear sight.
Collector-oriented details include matching serial numbers observed on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Identified as F-1760 within the 2nd Generation Colt Blackpowder Series, this example falls within a short production window, underscoring its appeal to enthusiasts of Colt blackpowder reproductions.
