Produced under license as a Third Generation Colt, this Signature Series Dragoon retains the classic six-shot, single-action, percussion cap-and-ball design. It uses a wedge-retained steel barrel and an under-barrel loading lever, preserving the traditional layout and operation of the original pattern.
Materials and finishes are period-appropriate and well executed: a blued steel barrel and cylinder paired with a color case-hardened steel frame, hammer, and loading lever. The grip frame (triggerguard and backstrap) is brass, fitted with a one-piece walnut grip, and the triggerguard is round as seen on later Dragoons.
Factory-applied embellishments include the scripted "Samuel Colt" signature on the backstrap and the cylinder’s roll-engraved "Ranger and Indian fight" scene. Markings include "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY" on the top barrel flat and "COLT'S PATENT" on the frame, aligning with historical Colt conventions.
Sighting is via a fixed front blade dovetailed at the muzzle. This revolver’s major components carry matching serial digits, and the .44 caliber chambering and six-shot cylinder capture the heft and capability associated with the 3rd Model Dragoon pattern.
